Exporting raw cashew nuts from Nigeria requires more than quality produce — it demands complete and accurate documentation to satisfy international trade regulations. At Palmadex, documentation is an integral part of our export process. This checklist provides a detailed breakdown of all certificates, permits, and inspection reports necessary for smooth cashew shipments to any destination.
Step 1: Certificate of Origin
Issued by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), this document confirms that the cashew nuts are of Nigerian origin. It’s a mandatory requirement for customs clearance in most importing countries.
Step 2: Phytosanitary Certificate
Provided by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, this certificate confirms that the cashew nuts are pest-free and meet plant health standards of the importing country.
Step 3: Fumigation Certificate
Palmadex ensures each consignment is properly fumigated against insects before shipment. The fumigation certificate verifies that international sanitary requirements have been met.
Step 4: Quality and Grading Report
Before export, Palmadex performs laboratory analyses and grading verification. Independent quality inspection agencies may also issue a report confirming Outturn (KOR), nut count, and moisture content.
Step 5: Packing List and Commercial Invoice
Each shipment is accompanied by a detailed packing list specifying bag count, weight, and grade, along with a commercial invoice outlining the total consignment value.
Step 6: Bill of Lading (B/L)
The Bill of Lading, issued by the shipping line, serves as proof of shipment and ownership transfer document. Palmadex ensures it reflects accurate shipment details for seamless customs processing.
Step 7: Export Permit and Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC)
Export permits are obtained from NEPC, while PSIC is issued after physical verification of the cargo by authorized inspection agencies such as SGS or Cotecna.
Step 8: Insurance Certificate
Marine insurance provides coverage against loss or damage during transit. Palmadex assists buyers with insurance coordination for added shipment security.
Step 9: Form NXP (Nigeria Export Proceeds Form)
Processed through the Central Bank of Nigeria, Form NXP authorizes the legal export of goods and ensures all foreign payments are traceable and compliant.
Step 10: Final Documentation Pack
Palmadex consolidates all documents into a final compliance pack for buyers — including digital copies of certificates, photos, and inspection reports for transparency and recordkeeping.
